Glasgow Equine Hospital is a state of the art referral hospital for veterinary surgeons throughout Scotland and northern England, and the teaching hospital for veterinary undergraduates at the University of Glasgow. It is closely associated with the first opinion Glasgow Equine Practice, and together these comprise the Weipers Centre, situated in the beautiful Garscube Estate in Bearsden, Glasgow.

Equine specialists in the disciplines of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Reproduction and Anaesthesia work to provide a comprehensive referral service for a large varied caseload, which includes Sports Horses, Thoroughbreds, draught horses, native ponies, donkeys and a good proportion of pleasure horses and pets. The Hospital has many different imaging modalities and consults with specialists in Diagnostic Imaging to provide optimum diagnostic support for complex musculoskeletal cases.

Specialists in Clinical Pathology, Histopathology and Gross Pathology are based at the same site, providing outstanding diagnostic support to the clinical investigations undertaken at the hospital. Postgraduate training is well established at Glasgow University. Junior clinical training positions last 12 months, with duties rotating between Medicine, Surgery and out of hours Emergency and Inpatient care. Clinical speciality training is combined with a 1-year Masters of Veterinary Medicine in a 4-year residency programme. The Hospital usually has 4 Junior Clinicians at one time, plus 2 Residents in Equine Internal Medicine and 2 Residents in Equine Surgery.
